This 5¢ postage stamp is being issued to draw attention to Canada's most popular winter sport, hockey. The Post Office Department wishes to pay tribute to the skill of Canada's hockey players and the prestige they have earned for Canada in international competition. This stamp was designed by James Simpkins of Ottawa and is being engraved and printed by the Canadian Bank Note Company, Ottawa.
