About Stamp

At least 40 nations, more than 30 corporations, and an estimated 15 million people from six continents will attend EXPO 86, to be held in Vancouver from May 2 to October 13, 1986. Certain to be one of the most advanced and ambitious international events of its kind, EXPO 86 was originally conceived by the Government of British Columbia as a centennial celebration of two major Canadian events: th founding of Vancouver, and the arrival of Canada's first transcontinental train on the west coast. Designer Debbie Adams has employed a technique well-suited to reproduction by steel-engraving and gravure to illustrate the Canada Pavilion and the communications aspect of the "World in Motion - World in Touch" theme of EXPO 86. Two more stamps will be issued on May 2, 1986, featuring the Expo Centre and the transportation aspect of the EXPO 86 theme, to complete the set.
