About Stamp

On May 2, EXPO 86 - the world exposition on transportation and communications - opens its doors. More than eighty countries, provinces, and corporations have joined together to present an awe-inspiring array of cultures and technologies. Visitors to Vancouver will be treated to a kaleidoscope of spectacular exhibits and entertainment... laser-light shows, robots, performing arts extravaganzas, and amazing rides like the Soulé people-mover from France and a giant roller coaster. Entrancing and educational, EXPO 86 provides a unique opportunity to explore the ancient past and distant future. Designer Debbie Adams has employed a technique well-suited to reproduction by steel engraving and gravure to illustrate to Expo Centre and the transportation aspect of the "World in Motion - World in Touch" theme of EXPO 86. Two other stamps were previously issued March 7, 1986, featuring the Canada Pavilion and the communications aspect of the EXPO 86 theme.
