The year will focus on peach as a pre-condition for development and social progress as a requirement for the implementation of human rights as well as the satisfaction of human needs for food, shelter, health and education. The Peace Year stamp will be issued on 16 September 1986, the International Day of Peace. Carole Jeghers of Montreal, developed the design for the Peace Year stamp, which features a symbolic dove placed in a protective attitude toward the fragile and vulnerable globe of earth.
