About Stamp

Canadian performers are dazzling audiences as never before. Whether in theatre, dance, music of film, these talented people are treating Canadians to world-class entertainment while gaining international recognition. Canada Post Corporation pays tribute to their success with the issue of four se tenant commemorative stamps. Four milestones are also recognized by these stamps: the National Film Board's and Royal Winnipeg Ballet's 50th anniversaries; the 30th anniversary of Vancouver Opera; and the 25th anniversary of the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Toronto's Jonathan Milne created paper sculptures for fellow Torontonian William Tibbles to use in the stamp designs. Tibbles set the sculptures on a stage, an element common to all performing arts. Young people and adults, amateurs and professionals, classical and modern works are represented on three stamps. The fourth shows a director at work.
